As a company that performs home inspections in Winnetka, we have the following information about this community:

Spring Cleanup for Winnetka is April 26-29.

Monday, 4/26: north of Tower Road;
Tuesday, 4/27: Tower Road to Pine Street;
Wednesday, 4/28: Pine Street to Willow Road;
Thursday, 4/29: south of Willow Road.

The main purpose of this yearly spring rubbish pickup is to reduce fire hazards in the home. Public Works employees will remove from the parkway anything that two men can reasonably lift into a truck.

Building and Other Related Permits

A Certificate of Appropriateness of Design must be issued prior to any external architectural feature changes, including awnings, storefronts, and certain signage for commercial, multi-family or institutional buildings. (Single-family homes are NOT required to obtain a Certificate of Appropriateness.) Comcast provides cable television service to Winnetka residents. The Comcast Customer Service phone number is 866-594-1234.

Although the Village has limited authority regarding the operations of the cable companies, we do document problems or issues Winnetka residents may have with our local provider, Comcast. Any problems that you experience should first be addressed directly with the cable company at 866-594-1234, or at www.comcast.com. The Village maintains an information bulletin board for cable subscribers on cable channel 10. Local events are listed on the bulletin board along with timely safety and crime prevention information. Village Council meetings are televised weekly.

The Village Council meetings are aired on Channel 10, Mondays and Fridays at 7 p.m.

Until January 1, 2010, Comcast will provide a TV production studio for use by Winnetkans in Highland Park and Skokie. Residents seeking information about Public Access should call 847-266-1887, or visit www.accesschannel.com . After the first of the year, this service will no longer be provided by Comcast.
